University of Sindh Leads Rally to Mark ‘Exploitation of Kashmiris Day’

Jamshoro: The University of Sindh, led by Vice Chancellor Dr. Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro, held a significant rally on August 5 to observe ‘Exploitation of Kashmiris Day,’ denouncing the removal of Article 370 from the Indian Constitution, which they claim undermines the rights of the majority Muslim population in Occupied Kashmir.

According to University of Sindh, the rally commenced at the EC2 building and proceeded to the Extension Building, culminating at the administrative building. The event saw robust participation from faculty, officers, and employees, voicing a strong demand for international intervention against what they described as India’s unconstitutional and immoral actions on August 5, 2019.

Dr. Kalhoro emphasized that despite India’s attempts to alter the demographic and political landscape of Kashmir, the intrinsic right of self-determination for Kashmiris remains intact. He condemned India’s actions as not only unconstitutional but also a violation of international laws and UN resolutions. Echoing his sentiments, Professor Dr. Mushtaq Ali Jariko, the University’s Registrar, criticized the global community’s silence on the issue and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to advocating for Kashmiri rights at all levels.

Director of the Pakistan Study Center, Professor Dr. Shuja Ahmad Mahesar, highlighted the resilience of the Kashmiri people amidst severe human rights violations and reiterated the inevitability of their struggle for self-determination. Other speakers at the rally, including academicians and administrative staff, expressed solidarity with the Kashmiri people and called for continued moral and diplomatic support from the Pakistani government.

The rally concluded with collective prayers for the freedom of Kashmir and tributes to those who have suffered in the conflict. The University of Sindh pledged to maintain its advocacy for Kashmir, underscoring the regional and religious bonds that link Pakistan with Kashmir.
