Sargodha: The University of Sargodha is witnessing heightened activity as students from various departments converge for the 23rd Annual Sports Gala. This event, which extends beyond typical athletic contests, aims to encourage student participation, foster healthy competition, and promote a culture of wellness and confidence.
Male students are competing in athletics, badminton, table tennis, chess, basketball, and tennis. Female students are participating in cricket, handball, football, kabaddi, tug-of-war, and shooting ball, among other events.
Director Sports Mahar Ahmad Khan Haral highlighted the benefits of sports, noting their role in physical health and mental well-being. He pointed out that sports help students manage academic stress, improve concentration, and enhance morale.
Sports also teach teamwork and collaboration, encouraging students to work together towards common objectives. Haral commended the vision of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas, who supports a balanced academic environment where co-curricular activities like sports are integral to student life.
Arooj Fatima, a participant from the Department of Botany, shared her excitement about the event. She described it as an empowering experience that emphasizes personal growth, discipline, and building lasting memories.
The Sports Gala will continue until the end of April, providing students with a chance to rejuvenate and return to their studies with renewed focus and community spirit.
