Rawalkot: The University of Poonch Rawalakot, under the Department of Medical Lab Technology, Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, held an awareness walk and seminar on World Hepatitis Day, emphasizing the importance of understanding hepatitis types, symptoms, and preventive measures. Faculty members and students participated in the event, with Dr. Shahid Iqbal Awan serving as the chief guest.
According to University of Poonch Rawalakot, the seminar featured discussions on the various types of hepatitis—A, B, C, D, and E—and their impacts on the liver. Resource persons, including Dr. Abdul Qudus and Dr. Rizwan Saeed Kayani, highlighted the necessity of preventive methods such as vaccinations, safe blood transfusions, and proper medical practices. The seminar also addressed the importance of recognizing symptoms and the availability of diagnostic tests like liver function and viral load tests.
Dr. Shahid Iqbal underscored the objective of the seminar, which was to enhance students’ knowledge through firsthand experience from medical professionals. The event also provided a platform for students to engage with experts, like Dr. Z and department chairs Dr. Usman and Dr. Fahad Syed, to discuss and dispel common misconceptions about hepatitis and its treatment options. The presence of Dr. Abid Hussain, Chairman of the Pharmacy Department, enriched the discussions, making the seminar a comprehensive educational event for all attendees.
