UCP Athletes Take Center Stage at World University Games in Germany

Lahore: A delegation from the University of Central Punjab (UCP) is representing Pakistan in the World University Games currently underway in Germany. The event, which runs from July 16 to 27, 2025, features over 9,200 student-athletes from more than 150 countries competing in 18 sports across six cities: Bochum, Duisburg, Essen, Mülheim an der Ruhr, Hagen, and Berlin. Pakistan’s contingent includes 50 athletes, with 8 players and 2 officials from UCP.

In the taekwondo category, Tayyab Yousaf will compete under the management of M Arshad Sattar, the manager of the Pakistan Taekwondo Team.

The swimming events will see participation from Ayan Asif, Sameer Asif, and M Nouman Azeem, who also serves as the manager and coach for the Pakistan Swimming Team.

Judo competitors M Sharif Tahir and Saifullah Niazi are also part of the UCP group, showcasing their skills on an international platform.

Athletics is represented by Nadeem Ali and Shazil Ahmad, competing against a diverse range of international athletes.

In table tennis, Syed Obaid Shah will aim to make his mark in the tournament.

The University of Central Punjab has expressed pride in its athletes and officials representing the nation on this global stage, highlighting the significant role of sports in fostering international camaraderie and competition.
