Faisalabad: The cricket ground at the National Textile University (NTU) was bustling with activity today as it hosted the opening ceremony for the Intra-Departmental Sports, a collaborative effort between the Department of Textile Engineering and Technology and the Department of Materials.
The event was inaugurated by NTU’s Rector, Prof. Dr. Rashid Masood, who initiated the festivities. This marks the beginning of a series of competitive sporting events aimed at fostering camaraderie and a healthy competitive spirit among students.
The ceremony drew attendance from a host of faculty deans, chairmen, and staff, indicating the university’s emphasis on sports as a complement to academics. Among the attendees was Dr. Zulifiqar Ali, Dean of the School of Engineering and Technology, who served as the chief guest.
Heads of the participating departments, Dr. Muhammad Qamar Khan and Dr. Usman Zubair, were present, alongside notable faculty members such as Dr. Zubair Khaliq and Dr. Asif Hafeez. The gathering also included lecturers like Muzammil Mehmood and Iqra Abdul Rashid.
The university’s sports administration was represented by Mr. Waqar Ahmed, Deputy Advisor Sports, and sports officers Mr. Imran Ali and Mr. Parvaiz Akhtar, who play key roles in organizing the sports events.
