Smriti Mandhana Sets New Record as Highest Run-Scorer in Women’s Cricket

Mumbai: India's cricket sensation Smriti Mandhana achieved a significant milestone, becoming the highest run-scorer in women's international cricket and the player with the most centuries across formats during a remarkable performance in Women's T20Is. Mandhana scored an impressive 124 runs, marking her highest-ever score in the format, and surpassing legends Mithali Raj and Meg Lanning in career runs and centuries.

According to International Cricket Council, Mandhana, at 30, now boasts 10,880 runs and 18 hundreds. Reflecting on her achievement, she expressed her admiration for Mithali Raj, the previous record-holder, and Meg Lanning, acknowledging their influence on her career. "Mithali di has been such a role model. To go past in the tally of runs is something that I'd definitely not imagined to do," Mandhana stated during a post-match press conference.

While Mandhana's performance has been a source of pride for India, challenges remain for the team, particularly in the middle-order. In recent matches, the side struggled, losing multiple wickets swiftly after Mandhana's dismissal. Despite these setbacks, Mandhana remains optimistic about her team's prospects in upcoming contests, including their next Asia Cup match against Pakistan. "Everyone is a world-class batter in the middle-order... there's no doubt they will be able to adapt," she said.
