SIUT and Edhi Foundation Forge Partnership to Boost Medical Education

Karachi: The Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) Trust has announced a strategic partnership with the Edhi Foundation to enhance medical and paramedic education and training. The collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by Dr. Adib Rizvi, Founder of SIUT, and Mr. Faisal Edhi, CEO of the Edhi Foundation, aims to strengthen cooperation in undergraduate technical and medical education via the Sindh Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS)-SIUT, a recognized degree-awarding institution.

This partnership marks a new chapter in the longstanding relationship between SIUT and the Edhi Foundation, both known for their humanitarian services. In 2014, the Edhi Foundation contributed significantly to SIUT by donating 100 million to renovate an operation theatre, which was transformed into the Abdul Sattar and Bilquees Edhi Transplant OT Complex. Additionally, the foundation has provided ambulances and loaders, ensuring the free transport of critically ill patients.

At a time when Pakistan faces economic challenges, particularly in healthcare and education costs, this collaboration aims to tackle these issues by equipping students with advanced learning tools and clinical training. The initiative underscores the commitment of both organizations to upholding healthcare and education as fundamental rights and seeks to nurture future leaders in these sectors.

The MoU is expected to facilitate capacity building and contribute to sustainable progress in Pakistan’s healthcare and education systems, building on a legacy of service to humanity shared by both SIUT and the Edhi Foundation.
