Lahore: Shaheen Shah Afridi, the spearhead of Lahore Qalandars’ successful campaign, has been appointed the captain of the Team of HBL PSL X. Afridi’s leadership guided the Qalandars to their third title in four years, culminating in a six-wicket victory over Quetta Gladiators in the final at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
The tournament, which took place from April 11 to May 25 across the cities of Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi, saw Afridi excel with 19 wickets in 13 matches, earning him the Fazal Mahmood Cap as the competition’s top wicket-taker. His teammates, Sikandar Raza and Fakhar Zaman, also secured spots in the team due to their notable performances.
Quetta Gladiators, winners of the 2019 edition, are represented by three players in the team. Hasan Nawaz, recognized as the best batter of the tournament, is joined by all-rounder Faheem Ashraf and spinner Abrar Ahmed, who each played pivotal roles for their side.
Karachi Kings’ third-place finish was bolstered by contributions from captain David Warner, opening partner James Vince, and pacer Hasan Ali, all of whom have been included in the team. Khushdil Shah from the Kings is named as the 12th man.
Islamabad United’s Sahibzada Farhan, who topped the run charts with 449 runs, is the only representative from his team. Peshawar Zalmi’s emerging talent, Ali Raza, rounds out the lineup with his 12 wickets in the tournament.
The HBL PSL X Team reflects the standout performers from the league, with Afridi at the helm as captain, recognizing his exceptional skills and leadership on the field.
