Islamabad: Senior Provincial Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has accused the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) of electoral misconduct in the recent Azad Kashmir elections, alleging collusion with the federal and Punjab governments as well as the Election Commission to undermine the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidates.

According to Pakistan Peoples Party, Memon claimed during a press conference in Islamabad that these allegations were observed internationally and that the PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had earlier emphasized the importance of these elections for the party. Memon criticized the prioritization of PML-N's interests over the collective interest of the Kashmiri people. He further alleged that the Election Commission acted irresponsibly and appeared biased towards the PML-N, echoing misconduct from the 2024 general elections.

Memon detailed several incidents of alleged irregularities, including the illegal distribution of ballot papers to PML-N candidates and the involvement of Punjab Police in fraudulent activities. He also recounted instances of violence, such as the killing of a PPP worker and an attack on the President of Azad Kashmir, which he claimed were ignored by authorities. The Senior Minister called for accountability and expressed the PPP's commitment to pursuing legal and democratic channels to address these grievances.
