Islamabad: Vice President of the Pakistan Peoples Party, Senator Sherry Rehman, has issued a strong condemnation regarding Israel’s reported plan to impose a military occupation on Gaza. She described the move as “a blatant attempt to turn oppression into policy under the false cover of security.”
Senator Rehman criticized the justification of security for the occupation, arguing that it seeks to legitimize what she views as Israel’s ongoing control over Gaza. “This is not just a military manoeuvre, it is a conspiracy to make oppression part of the global system,” she stated.
She further accused Israel of employing severe tactics, such as limiting access to food, water, and medicine, which she categorized as “the worst and most cold-blooded example of systematic genocide.”
“Starving an entire population into submission is a crime against humanity,” Senator Rehman emphasized. She painted a dire picture of the situation in Gaza, where hospitals are shuttered, children suffer from exhaustion, and parents watch helplessly. “Is this what the international system dares to call justice?” she questioned.
Senator Rehman called for accountability, insisting, “The killer of 61,000 innocent lives must be brought to justice. Israeli leadership must be made to answer for these atrocities before the International Court of Justice.”
She highlighted the plight of over two million Palestinians trapped under siege, describing it as more than just a humanitarian crisis. “This is a defining test for humanity itself,” she asserted, criticizing Israel for making oppression “official policy” by restricting essential resources in Gaza.
Senator Rehman urged the global community to respond decisively, noting that countries like the UK and Australia have cautioned Israel against taking military control of Gaza. She pointed out that even an Israeli opposition leader has called the plan a “disaster.”
“Justice must be delivered to the oppressed people of Palestine, and it must be delivered swiftly,” Senator Rehman concluded.
