Rohit Sharma Nears Top Spot in ICC ODI Batter Rankings After Strong Show Against Sri Lanka

Colombo: India captain Rohit Sharma is closing the gap on Pakistan’s Babar Azam in the ICC Men’s ODI Batter Rankings following impressive performances in the ongoing series against Sri Lanka.

According to International Cricket Council, Rohit has excelled as the leading run-scorer in the first two matches of the three-game series, notching up two half-centuries and a total of 122 runs at a strike rate of 134.06. This performance has propelled him to third place in the ODI batter rankings, narrowing the gap with the top-ranked Babar Azam to just 61 points.

The series has also seen notable shifts in the rankings for other players. India’s Shubman Gill holds the second spot, while Axar Patel has ascended 35 places to rank 178th among ODI batters. On the bowling side, India’s Kuldeep Yadav has moved up five places to the fourth spot in the ODI bowler rankings, bolstered by his performance of 2/33 in the second match. The series has also been fruitful for Sri Lankan talents, with significant improvements noted among their ranks in both batting and bowling categories.
