Karachi: The Rising Star Cricket Club secured its spot in the Quarter Finals of the PCB Zone-IV Inter Club Cricket Tournament, overcoming Punjab Cricket Club by a significant margin of 131 runs at Landhi Gymkhana Ground.
According to Regional Cricket Association Karachi, the match was highlighted by exceptional performances from Rising Star’s bowlers, slow left-arm spinner Afnan Khan and medium pacer Asadullah Hamza, who both took four wickets apiece, recording figures of 4/18 and 4/36, respectively. Their efforts were instrumental in dismantling the opposing lineup.
The game, which was shortened to 35 overs per side due to overnight rain, saw Rising Star posting a challenging total of 206/8. Key contributions came from Hanif Azad, who scored 41 runs including four boundaries and a six, Afnan Khan with 37 runs, and Abdullah Fazal adding 36 runs to the scoreboard. Punjab Cricket Club, in response, was bowled out for just 75 runs in 23 overs, with Saad ulla Baig being the only batsman to put up a significant resistance with a score of 40.
