LAHORE: Punjab University inaugurated its new “KOHA Integrated Library Management System” at a ceremony in the university’s library. Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali led the ceremony, emphasizing the critical role libraries and librarians play in education and society.
The event marked a transition from the university’s in-house software, MLIMS, which had been in use since 2007, to the internationally recognized KOHA system. This shift aims to enhance the efficiency and user-friendliness of the library services.
Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood acknowledged the dedicated efforts of the library team in ensuring a smooth transition to the new system, highlighting their commitment to professional excellence.
Chief Librarian Dr Muhammad Haroon Usmani provided insights into the digital transformation journey of the library. He noted that the customization of KOHA was tailored to meet the specific needs of the university, marking a milestone in its modernization efforts.
The ceremony concluded with a pledge to continue improving the university’s library services through innovative strategies and collaborative efforts.
