Lahore: In a concerted effort to combat pollution and smog, Punjab University’s College of Earth and Environmental Sciences (CEES) initiated a tree plantation drive on Friday, August 16, 2024. The event, which marked the beginning of the campaign, was held in collaboration with the Rotary Club and inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Khalid Mahmood.
According to University of the Punjab, the tree planting ceremony saw significant participation from CEES Principal Prof Dr. Sajid Rasheed Ahmed, alongside faculty members and staff. During the event, Vice Chancellor Dr. Mahmood encouraged educators to engage actively in planting trees within their communities and to nurture them as part of a broader commitment to ensuring a sustainable future.
Prof Dr. Sajid Rasheed emphasized the critical role of such environmental initiatives in safeguarding natural surroundings, highlighting tree planting as a crucial measure against the growing challenges of air pollution and smog in the region.
