Punjab to Conduct Open Trials for Selection to 35th National Games


Lahore: Director General of Sports Punjab, Pervez Iqbal, announced that open trials will be conducted across all divisions in Punjab to select athletes for the upcoming 35th National Games in Karachi. This declaration was made during a pivotal meeting held at the National Hockey Stadium on Thursday, aimed at reviewing preparations for the games.



According to Sports Board Punjab, The meeting saw the participation of Director Admin M Kaleem, Director Sports Yasmeen Akhter, Deputy Director Zahoor Ahmed, Deputy Director Ata ur Rehman, Chief Sports Consultant Hafeez Bhatti, among other officials. Pervez Iqbal emphasized the commitment to merit-based selection for the Punjab teams, stating that transparency in the trials would be ensured by the formation of different selection committees across the province.



Furthermore, Iqbal disclosed that athletes selected for the National Games would receive scholarships from the Sports Endowment Fund. In preparation for the competition, Sports Board Punjab plans to organize training camps under the guidance of qualified coaches and trainers to ensure athletes are well-prepared to compete at the highest levels.
