KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Karachi General Secretary, Arsalan Khalid, has issued a strong rebuke against the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), accusing it of sacrificing Sindh's water rights to protect its political interests. According to a press release from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Khalid criticized the recent press conference by Provincial Minister Nasir Hussain Shah, labeling it misleading and a failed attempt to divert attention from pressing provincial issues.

Khalid alleged that the PPP's protests against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi are a strategic distraction from critical water distribution issues in Sindh. He questioned the silence of PPP leaders, particularly regarding new canal projects in Punjab, and accused them of allowing unfair water distribution. The PTI leader specifically targeted Asif Ali Zardari, claiming that he signed off on documents approving these inequitable measures, which Khalid argues have left Sindh's agricultural lands barren and its farmers struggling.

Highlighting ongoing issues, Khalid pointed out that influential landlords are allegedly breaching canals to divert water, aggravating the shortage faced by poor farmers. He criticized the Sindh government for not taking action against this alleged water theft and for attempting to shift focus through political theatrics.

In his statement, Khalid called on Minister Nasir Hussain Shah to clarify his stance on the canal projects in Punjab and to address the water concerns of Sindh. He emphasized that the PTI is committed to defending Sindh's water rights and will continue to advocate for the province's farmers and resources across all platforms.
