Lahore: The annual 50-over President’s Cup cricket tournament is set to commence on October 3, featuring nine departmental teams across five cities. The competition will culminate with semifinals on October 13 and 14, and the final showdown on October 16.
According to Pakistan Cricket Board, the tournament will include teams from various sectors, including Higher Education Commission (HEC), Khan Research Laboratories (KRL), and the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), grouped in Group A. Group B will see teams like Eshaal Associates and Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) among others. Matches for Group A will be played in Abbottabad, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi, while Group B’s games are scheduled in Faisalabad and Lahore.
The winner of the President’s Cup will receive a prize of PKR 5 million, with the runners-up taking home PKR 2.5 million from a total prize pot of PKR 7.75 million. All matches will start at 9:30 am, though venues for the semifinals and final will be announced later. Defending champions, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), will open their title defense against Ghani Glass at Saeed Sports City Bedian in Lahore.
