Mianyang: President Asif Ali Zardari travelled from Chengdu to Mianyang on a high-speed train, completing the journey in approximately half an hour. During the trip, he received a briefing on the train’s operations, service, safety systems, and environmental benefits.
Officials underscored China’s extensive high-speed rail network, which spans over 45,000 kilometers and serves more than 2 billion passengers each year. Trains on this network can reach speeds of up to 350 km/h, connecting nearly all major Chinese cities. The standardized, dedicated passenger system has become a model for modern connectivity.
President Zardari commended China’s advancements in sustainable transport, highlighting the pollution-free electric propulsion and earthquake early-warning technologies as remarkable achievements in railway engineering. He emphasized that these innovations provide valuable insights for other nations, including Pakistan.
Accompanying President Zardari were Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, and Senator Saleem Mandviwalla. Upon arrival in Mianyang, the President was received by Vice Mayor Wu Hao.
This visit underscores the growing relationship between Pakistan and China, showcasing China’s leadership in high-speed rail infrastructure.
