Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has called for enhancing cooperation between Pakistan and Lebanon in internal security, law enforcement, and counter-narcotics. He made this appeal during a meeting with Ahmad Al Hajjar, the Lebanese Republic's Minister of Interior and Municipalities, at Aiwan-e-Sadr.

According to Pakistan Peoples Party, President Zardari voiced concern over the ongoing instability in Lebanon and the broader Middle East, emphasizing the dire humanitarian and security impacts. He reiterated Pakistan's support for Lebanon's sovereignty and advocated for diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving peace and resolving disputes through dialogue in line with international law. The President also highlighted the potential for greater collaboration in extradition and mutual legal assistance, as well as in areas like disaster preparedness and humanitarian logistics.

Ahmad Al Hajjar expressed gratitude for Pakistan's continued support and underscored the significance of bolstering ties in security and law enforcement. The meeting was attended by several officials from both nations, including the Lebanese Ambassador to Pakistan and senior Pakistani ministers involved in interior and narcotics control.
