Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has extended his warm felicitations to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the people of Uzbekistan on the occasion of their 35th Independence Day.

According to Pakistan Peoples Party, President Zardari, in a letter to his Uzbek counterpart, emphasized the importance Pakistan places on its relations with Uzbekistan. He highlighted the historic ties founded on shared faith, cultural affinities, and mutual trust, underscoring a common vision for regional peace, stability, and prosperity.

President Zardari noted that the partnership between Pakistan and Uzbekistan is deepening, marked by expanding cooperation in political, economic, trade, connectivity, defense, and people-to-people areas. He referenced President Mirziyoyev's state visit to Pakistan in February, stating it provided fresh momentum to the strategic partnership between the two countries. The discussions and agreements from the visit were noted as reflections of strong political will to transform their friendship into tangible benefits for both nations.

The President also expressed optimism about further strengthening the partnership through joint efforts, enhancing regional connectivity, and economic cooperation, and working closely towards shared goals of peace and prosperity.
