Islamabad: In a statement released on National Newspaper Readership Day, President Asif Ali Zardari expressed his appreciation for the crucial role newspapers play in educating and informing the public. The President emphasized the importance of journalistic integrity in today’s digital age and called for continued efforts to uphold democratic values through responsible reporting.
According to Pakistan Peoples Party, President Zardari praised the All-Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) for its efforts to enhance political awareness and encourage informed decision-making among citizens. He highlighted the significance of newspapers in promoting moral and ethical standards, tolerance, inter-faith harmony, and respect for human rights. Furthermore, he addressed the challenges posed by misinformation and the spread of fake news, urging newspapers to counteract these issues by adhering to the highest standards of accuracy and fairness.
The President also underscored the necessity of a free and responsible press in the successful functioning of democracy and the formation of public opinion on critical national and international issues.
