Pant Surpasses Kohli in ICC Test Rankings as Salman Agha Emerges as Pakistan’s Top Batter

Karachi: Rishabh Pant has climbed to sixth place on the ICC Men’s Test Batter Rankings, overtaking fellow Indian star Virat Kohli after a strong performance against New Zealand, while Pakistan’s Salman Agha has surged to a career-high position following his notable contributions during the ongoing ICC World Test Championship.

According to International Cricket Council, Pant’s return to Test cricket has been remarkable, with scores of 20 and 99 in his third match back from a serious car accident. His efforts have propelled him ahead of Kohli, who now shares eighth place. Meanwhile, Salman Agha’s impressive showings with scores of 31 and 63 against England have moved him up eight places to 14th, making him Pakistan’s highest-ranked Test batter, surpassing Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Saud Shakeel.

England’s Joe Root continues to dominate the rankings, holding a significant lead, while Ben Duckett’s knock of 114 against Pakistan has moved him closer to the top 10. The Test Bowler Rankings also saw notable changes, with New Zealand’s Matt Henry reaching a career-high ninth place and Pakistan’s Noman Ali climbing to 17th after a strong performance against England.
