Pakistan’s New T20I Captain Farhan Promises Aggressive Play Against Sri Lanka

Rawalpindi: Newly-appointed Pakistan T20I captain Sahibzada Farhan has committed to maintaining an aggressive approach in the upcoming three-match series against Sri Lanka, which begins on Friday. Farhan steps into the role following his successful leadership at the Asian Games, where Pakistan secured a silver medal.

According to International Cricket Council, Farhan, who replaces Salman Ali Agha, emphasized the importance of an attacking mindset for Pakistan's top-order batters. "I want the top order to bat according to the T20 mindset," he stated, highlighting the blend of youth and experience in the squad as a key advantage. The squad features seasoned players like Fakhar Zaman and former captain Shadab Khan, alongside pacer Naseem Shah and spinner Abrar Ahmed.

Notably absent from the team are white-ball stalwarts Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Mohammad Rizwan, though Farhan indicated that they could be recalled based on future performances. "Doors are open for everyone," he asserted.

Sri Lanka's team, led by Kusal Mendis, will be without star all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga due to injury. Despite a challenging recent series against England, Mendis remains confident in his team's abilities, citing strengths in bowling and fielding.

The series will be played in Rawalpindi, with matches scheduled for October 9, 11, and 13.
