Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed Closes In On Top T20I Bowler Spot

Islamabad: Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed is rapidly ascending the ICC Men’s T20I Bowling Rankings, sitting just below the top spot after a remarkable performance in the Asia Cup 2025.

Abrar’s recent achievements have propelled him 12 places higher, landing him at No.4 with 703 rating points. His impressive spell of 2/13 against the UAE and a crucial 1/8 against Sri Lanka contributed significantly to Pakistan’s success. Current top bowler Varun Chakaravarthy also strengthened his standing with a 14-point gain, despite not taking any wickets against Pakistan. His economical spell of 0/25 helped control Pakistan’s scoring rate. Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rahman re-entered the top 10, climbing six spots after taking six wickets at an average of eight in his last two matches.

Pakistan’s Haris Rauf (up nine places to 28th) and India’s Hardik Pandya (up six places to 60th) also saw improvements in their bowling rankings. Among batsmen, India’s Abhishek Sharma maintained his No.1 T20I ranking with notable performances against Oman and Pakistan. Teammate Tilak Varma moved up to No.3, contributing to India’s successful chase against Pakistan.

Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan and Hussain Talat jumped significantly in the rankings, reaching 24th and joint-234th respectively, thanks to impactful innings. Bangladesh’s Saif Hassan also made a substantial leap, rising 133 places to 81st. Pakistan’s all-rounder Faheem Ashraf climbed 12 places to reach joint-39th.
