Karachi: Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, in collaboration with the Director General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Liaison Office Karachi, hosted a “Chinese Film Screening” event at Auditorium I to commemorate 75 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China. The event was attended by the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China, H.E. Yang Yundong, as the chief guest, along with a diverse group of diplomats and cultural enthusiasts.



According to Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, the event aimed to further strengthen the longstanding friendship, cultural connections, and diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China. The ceremony commenced with the national anthems of both countries, followed by a song celebrating the friendship between Pakistan and China, performed by singers from both nations. A cake-cutting ceremony marked the anniversary festivities, and the film “The Shadow Chaser,” featuring Jackie Chan, was screened.



In his welcome address, President Arts Council Muhammad Ahmed Shah expressed his gratitude for hosting the ceremony at the Arts Council, emphasizing the deep bond between the peoples of Pakistan and China. He highlighted the role of culture as a foundation for national development and recounted the council’s successful organization of the World Culture Festival in Karachi, which saw participation from artists worldwide. Consul General H.E. Yang Yundong reflected on the 75-year history of diplomatic relations, emphasizing mutual trust, respect, and cooperation in various fields. Director General (MOFA) Irfan Soomro highlighted China’s development as a model for Pakistan and praised the Arts Council’s role in cultural diplomacy. The event concluded with the presentation of bouquets to the chief guests in recognition of their contributions to the enduring friendship between the two nations.
