Islamabad: Pakistan’s squash team began their campaign at the World Junior Squash Team Championships 2025 with decisive victories in their initial group stage matches. The team secured two consecutive wins on the first day of the tournament.
In their first match, Pakistan defeated Brazil with a clean sweep, winning all three individual bouts. Muhammad Umair Arif led the charge, overcoming Owen Hendricks in four sets with scores of 11-5, 6-11, 11-7, and 11-3. Abdullah Nawaz followed with a straight-set victory over Matheus Frabetti, posting scores of 11-6, 11-4, and 11-5. Anas Ali Shah completed the sweep by defeating Bernardo Dias with scores of 11-3, 11-6, and 11-5.
Pakistan continued their winning streak against Kuwait, again securing a 3-0 victory. Yahya Khan won his match against Abdulrahman Alkandari in straight sets, 11-2, 11-6, and 11-5. Abdullah Nawaz maintained his form, defeating Abdullah Ali 11-7, 11-6, and 13-11. Anas Ali Shah faced a slight challenge but prevailed over Khaled Walead Al Fouzain in four sets, scoring 11-6, 10-12, 11-4, and 11-8.
With these victories, Pakistan is set to face France in their final group stage match tomorrow. The team aims to carry forward the momentum and secure a strong position in the tournament.
