Pakistan to Host Australia in Crucial T20I Series Ahead of World Cup

Lahore: Pakistan is set to face Australia in a T20 International series as part of their preparation for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which begins on February 7, 2026. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that the three-match series will take place at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on January 29, 31, and February 1. This series is an essential opportunity for both teams to finalize their squads and adapt to conditions before the World Cup, which will be held in India and Sri Lanka.

According to International Cricket Council, the series comes at a critical time for both teams, as they deal with injuries to key players. Australia’s Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins, and Tim David are in recovery, while Pakistan’s Shaheen Shah Afridi is sidelined after an injury sustained during the Big Bash League. The World Cup will feature 20 teams, with Pakistan competing in Group A in Sri Lanka, and Australia in Group B.

Sumair Ahmed Syed, the Chief Operating Officer of the PCB, expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming matches, highlighting them as a significant event for cricket fans in Pakistan. He encouraged fans to attend the games and support both teams as they prepare for the World Cup. This tour by Australia marks their return to Pakistan following their last visit in March-April 2022.

Pakistan recently drew their T20I series in Sri Lanka, while Australia achieved a 4-1 victory in the Ashes Test series against England. The T20I matches between Pakistan and Australia will commence at 6:00 PM Pakistan Standard Time.
