Pakistan Announces New-Look Squad for Bangladesh T20 Series

Lahore: Pakistan’s cricket board has revealed a significantly altered squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, scheduled to take place in Mirpur from July 20 to 24. The lineup will be led by Salman Ali Agha, with notable absences including former key players Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi.

The squad welcomes back Faheem Ashraf and Fakhar Zaman, with Ashraf last appearing in a T20I in 2023 against New Zealand and Zaman in 2024. Additionally, Ahmed Daniyal has earned his first call-up to the national team, following standout performances in the Pakistan Super League 2025.

In terms of pace, Naseem Shah and Mohammad Wasim Jr. remain sidelined due to injuries, while Haris Rauf will miss the series after sustaining an injury in the Major League Cricket 2025 in the United States.

The selection includes all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz, returning after his last T20I appearance in January 2024. The wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris, who impressed with an unbeaten century in the last T20I against Bangladesh, retains his No.3 spot in the batting order.

The announcement comes on the heels of a recent three-match T20I series between the two teams in Pakistan, where the hosts secured a clean sweep. Bangladesh is currently engaged in a one-day international series against Sri Lanka before they head back to face Pakistan.

The series fixtures are set for July 20, 22, and 24 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
