LAHORE: Punjab University and the University of Jinan have signed key agreements to foster academic and research collaborations under the Belt and Road framework. The agreements aim to strengthen ties between the two nations through enhanced cooperation in scientific and technological research.
The signing ceremony, which took place online, was attended by notable representatives from both institutions. Participants included PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali and Prof Dr Du Qing from the University of Jinan. Also present were Mr Wang Fuzhou, CEO of Zhingsai Group, and Dr Muhammad Abid, CEO of Marjan Polymer Industries, along with faculty members and directors involved in the collaboration.
The agreements outline plans for joint research initiatives focusing on soil erosion, environmental restoration, water conservation, and material development. An International Joint Laboratory will be established to further these efforts, highlighting a commitment to sustainable development.
Additionally, the partnership will facilitate faculty and student exchange programs, aimed at enriching academic experiences and fostering innovation. Prof Dr Muhammad Ali emphasized that this collaboration marks a significant step in the ongoing friendship between Pakistan and China, with potential benefits for scientific progress and industrial expansion.
These agreements are seen as a milestone for both countries, aligning with global sustainability goals and promising new opportunities for growth in academia and industry.
