Lahore: The Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore recently conducted a consultative session aimed at enhancing the integration of intellectual property (IP) into Final Year Design Projects (FYDPs). The session, held on September 24, 2026, emphasized the importance of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) in the design projects.

According to the University of Engineering and Technology, the event was led by Director ORIC, Prof. Dr. S. Mohsin Ali Kazmi, and attended by FYDP Coordinators from various university departments. The session highlighted the necessity of identifying IP potential within student projects and incorporating patent writing into the FYDP process, an initiative aligned with the CQI and commercialization strategy directed by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir (TI).

Participants engaged actively throughout the session, demonstrating a commitment to enhancing the university's innovation capabilities by fostering IP awareness among students. ORIC plans to continue these efforts with additional sessions in the future, aiming to strengthen the institution's innovation pipeline starting from the undergraduate level.
