Karachi: Pakistan marked a significant milestone in its maritime sector with the inauguration of the country’s first Maritime Science and Technology Park (PMSTP) by the Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, at the EXPO Centre during the IDEAS-2024. The project aims to drive growth in maritime sciences and industries, potentially boosting the nation’s GDP and advancing technological innovation.
According to Pakistan Navy, Admiral Ashraf, who attended the ceremony as the Chief Guest, emphasized the historic importance of the PMSTP. He noted that the initiative would foster partnerships across academia, industry, and government, targeting various fields such as Naval Technologies, Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, and Coastal Tourism, among others. The Naval Chief highlighted the transformative potential of the PMSTP as a hub for innovation, aiming to strengthen Pakistan’s blue economy and address economic challenges while planning future expansions to Islamabad, Lahore, and Gwadar.
