Karachi: The National Women’s T20 Tournament is scheduled to begin on Wednesday in Karachi, with five teams—Challengers, Conquerors, Invincibles, Stars, and Strikers—competing over 18 days. Each team will play eight matches, culminating in a total of 22 matches by May 24.
The tournament will take place at the National Bank Stadium and Oval Ground, with games starting at 3 p.m. The opening matches feature Strikers against Stars at the National Bank Stadium, while Conquerors face Invincibles at the Oval Ground.
In a bid to increase competitiveness, a Qualifier match between the second and third-placed teams will occur on May 22. The winner will advance to the final on May 24, facing the top-ranked team at the National Bank Stadium.
Eighty cricketers will vie for a prize pool exceeding PKR three million. The champions will be awarded PKR 1.5 million, while the runners-up will receive PKR one million.
Team leadership includes Pakistan national team captain Fatima Sana for Conquerors, opening batter Gull Feroza for Strikers, Muneeba Ali for Invincibles, Rameen Shamim for Challengers, and Sidra Amin for Stars.
Captains expressed confidence in their teams’ readiness on the eve of the tournament. Rameen Shamim emphasized strategic execution, while Fatima Sana highlighted the team’s desire to correct past mistakes. Muneeba Ali and Sidra Amin focused on building momentum and leveraging familiarity with local conditions. Gull Feroza expressed optimism in the performance of young players.
