Mohammad Ahmed Shah Appointed to Senate of SZABUL, Karachi

Karachi: The Government of Sindh has appointed Mohammad Ahmed Shah, the President of the Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi, to the Senate of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University of Law (SZABUL), Karachi. This appointment, made by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, will last for a three-year term as stipulated under the Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University of Law Act, 2013.

According to Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, this decision underscores the increasing influence of arts and culture in shaping educational governance and public policy. The move is anticipated to foster a closer connection between legal education and community engagement, bridging theoretical and practical experiences. This inclusion of a cultural representative in the university’s governance is being regarded as a positive development.

Mohammad Ahmed Shah has been instrumental in advancing the arts, literature, and cultural activities both domestically and internationally. Notably, the World Culture Festival last year at the Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi, saw participation from artists representing over 140 countries, enhancing Pakistan's cultural diplomacy. Shah has also successfully organized events like the International Urdu Conference and the Pakistan Literature Festival, alongside numerous theatre, dance, and music festivals. In 2023, he served as the Minister for Information, Minority Affairs, and Social Protection in the Government of Sindh.
