LUMS Faculty Receive Prestigious Triple E Awards for Entrepreneurship and Research

Lahore: Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) proudly celebrated the recognition of two of its faculty members at the 2024 Triple E Awards, held during the ACEEU Asia-Pacific Forum in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. These awards highlight exceptional contributions in entrepreneurship education and impactful research within higher education.

According to Lahore University of Management Sciences, Ms. Saima Mujtaba Rana, an adjunct faculty member and former Head of Operations at the LUMS Centre for Entrepreneurship, was honored with the ‘Entrepreneurship Educator of the Year’ award. Her efforts have significantly expanded entrepreneurial education at LUMS, reaching underserved communities across Pakistan and integrating innovative programs like the hybrid pre-incubation model and a partnership with the Stanford Seed Spark programme.

Dr. Murtaza Taj, Associate Professor and Co-PI of the NCRA-Agricultural Robots Lab at LUMS, was named runner-up in the ‘Impactful Research Team of the Year’ category. His work on developing a low-cost early warning system for forest fires, in collaboration with WWF-Pakistan and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Forest Department, introduces an innovative AI-powered approach to enhance fire detection and environmental management, emphasizing the urgent need for solutions in the face of climate change.

The Triple E Awards, by recognizing Ms. Rana and Dr. Taj, underscore LUMS’s ongoing commitment to fostering leadership in entrepreneurship and research aimed at addressing global challenges.
