Karachi: The Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi organized a condolence reference at Haseena Moin Hall to honor the memory of Rashid Noor, a renowned journalist and poet. The event gathered notable figures and featured speeches from various dignitaries who paid tribute to Noor’s contributions to journalism and poetry.

ad Ahmed Shah, expressed deep sorrow over Noor’s passing, highlighting the personal friendship and professional legacy Noor left behind. He announced that the Arts Council is working on publishing Noor’s book, a project they plan to unveil once completed.
Shahid Noor, Rashid’s brother, shared emotional reflections on Rashid’s career with publications like ‘Nawa-i-Waqt’ and ‘Nai Roshni.’ He expressed gratitude to the Arts Council for honoring his brother’s memory and acknowledged the lasting impact Rashid had on those who knew him.
Karachi Press Club President Fazil Jamili spoke of the profound loss felt by the journalistic and literary communities. He reminisced about his personal connection with Noor and the conversations they shared, underscoring the void left by Noor’s absence.
Journalist and poet A.H. Khanzada highlighted Noor’s courage in both speech and writing. He urged the Arts Council to ensure the publication of Noor’s manuscript, emphasizing Noor’s influence in the poetry world.
Ambareen Haseeb Ambar, Chairperson of the Literary Committee, spoke of her bond with Noor and the importance of preserving his legacy. She praised the Arts Council for its commitment to supporting writers and artists, acknowledging Noor’s role in paving the way for newcomers.
Rehana Roohi, Vice Chairperson of the Literary Committee (Fiction), reflected on a recent tribute held in Noor’s honor, noting his simplicity and joy. Poet Waheed Noor called for the documentation of Noor’s contributions to literature, recognizing his vibrant presence in Karachi’s literary gatherings.
In a video message, Abid Rasheed conveyed the warm reception of Noor’s poetry in Chicago and the significant void his passing has left. He remembered Noor as a personification of sincerity and a loyal friend.
The event commenced with a documentary film on Rashid Noor’s life, attended by a large crowd, including Special Event Committee Chairman Iqbal Latif, Dr. Aliya Imam, and journalist Athar Javed Sufi, among others.
