Mumbai: India has announced its squad for the upcoming ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026, with captain Harmanpreet Kaur expressing full confidence in the team's ability to compete, despite some challenging selection decisions. The tournament, scheduled to begin on June 12 in England and Wales, will see India striving for their first ICC trophy in the T20 format, following their victory in the 50-over Cricket World Cup last year.

According to International Cricket Council, the squad includes Harmanpreet Kaur as captain, alongside seasoned players such as Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, and Jemimah Rodrigues. Notably absent is all-rounder Amanjot Kaur, who has been sidelined for several months, prompting selectors to recall spinner Radha Yadav to bolster the team's all-round capabilities. Kaur acknowledged the difficulty in replacing Amanjot Kaur but emphasized the team's efforts to maintain a balanced lineup.

The selection process also saw Harleen Deol omitted in favor of Bharti Fulmali, as the team opts for a more aggressive middle order. Despite a recent series loss in South Africa, Kaur remains focused on fine-tuning strategies for critical phases of the game, particularly during powerplays and middle overs. She stressed the importance of consistency in selection, highlighting Jemimah Rodrigues' continued inclusion as a key player following her contributions to India's World Cup success.
