Islamabad: In a significant effort to promote student engagement and cultural integration, the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) recently hosted the DAAD EFFAL Unity Cup cricket tournament. The event was organized by the university's Directorate of University Advancement and Financial Aid (UAFA) in collaboration with the Student Advisor Office (Male), taking place at the IIUI Sports Ground.
The tournament, part of the HEC-DAAD Empower Future Female Afghan Leaders (EFFAL) - Pakistan Track, was designed to foster teamwork, healthy competition, and social interaction among Afghan scholars at the university. This initiative is a testament to IIUI's commitment to providing a supportive academic environment enriched by extracurricular activities.
Four male teams participated, showcasing discipline and sportsmanship throughout the competition. The Hindukush Titans claimed victory, securing the championship trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 20,000. The Kabul Tigers were the runners-up and received Rs. 5,000.
The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Hafiz Ghufran Ahmad, Student Advisor (Male), Ms. Humaira Islam, Additional Director UAFA, and Muhammad Umair Butt, Superintendent UAFA. Officials from the UAFA and the IIUI Sports Department also attended, ensuring smooth arrangements and motivating the participants.
The successful execution of the DAAD EFFAL Unity Cup underscores IIUI's ongoing dedication to holistic student development and the integration of its international student community through engaging sporting activities.
