IIUI Unveils Major Research Incentive Fund to Boost Academic Excellence

ISLAMABAD: In a significant move to enhance research at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), President Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmad has sanctioned the release of nearly Rs 21 million. This fund aims to honor faculty members for their research contributions and scholarly publications from 2017 to 2019. Subsequent payments for research conducted in 2020 and beyond are expected to follow.

This initiative, supported by Vice President Research and Enterprise Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed and Director ORIC Dr. Mohammad Amir, highlights the university’s commitment to academic excellence. The decision is seen as a morale booster for IIUI’s research community.

Additionally, the President has introduced the IIUI Research Excellence Incentive Framework. This framework aims to recognize quality research publications and motivate faculty members to enhance their global research presence.

Under the new system, honoraria are set for journal publications. For W category journals, the honorarium is USD 100, with lesser amounts for X and Y categories. For single-authored papers, the full amount goes to the IIUI author, while multi-authored papers see equal distribution among authors.

The process for claiming these incentives has been streamlined. Researchers will upload their work to the IIUI Research Database for verification by the Quality Assurance Directorate, ensuring prompt disbursement of payments.

These initiatives underscore President Alahmad’s dedication to fostering academic excellence and support for faculty achievements, positioning IIUI as a leader in research both nationally and internationally. His leadership continues to yield concrete benefits for the university’s academic community, setting a standard for other institutions in Pakistan.
