Islamabad: Prof. Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, met with Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmed, President of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), to discuss academic collaborations and future development projects for the university.
In the meeting, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmed was joined by Prof. Dr. Ahmad Shuja Syed, Vice President of Research and Enterprise, and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq, Director General of the Islamic Research Institute at IIUI. The Federal Minister welcomed the IIUI President and congratulated him on his new role at the university.
Prof. Ahsan Iqbal emphasized the enduring friendly relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, highlighting the strong cooperation and shared values between the two nations. He also shared his personal experiences with the Kingdom, underscoring the robust bilateral ties.
President Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmed expressed gratitude to the Federal Minister and outlined key academic and institutional initiatives at IIUI. He detailed the proposed Nisar Fatima Institute for Seerah and Women Studies in Lahore, a collaborative effort with the Higher Education Commission, approved by IIUI's Academic Council. Additionally, he discussed the IIUI Waqf project and introduced a new development plan, PC-1.
As the meeting concluded, Prof. Ahsan Iqbal presented a ministry souvenir to Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmed, who reciprocated with an IIUI souvenir. Dr. Alahmed also extended congratulations to the Federal Minister on his Nishan-e-Pakistan honor for national contributions.
