IIUI and National Language Promotion Department Sign MoU to Boost Urdu Language and Literature

Islamabad: The International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) and the National Language Promotion Department (NLPD) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in promoting the Urdu language and literature. The agreement focuses on the use of Urdu as a medium of instruction and communication, while fostering academic and research collaboration between the two institutions.

According to International Islamic University Islamabad, the MoU was signed by Prof. Dr. Fauzia Janjua, Dean Faculty of Languages and Literature, on behalf of IIUI, with Prof. Dr. Saleem Mazhar, Director General of NLPD, representing the National Heritage and Culture Division. The ceremony was attended by officials from both organizations, including the Chairperson of the Department of Urdu and representatives from the Linkages Department.

The agreement outlines various cooperative efforts such as joint academic initiatives, curriculum integration, translation assistance, and coordination of literary events. IIUI will engage in academic and research projects, while the NLPD will provide resources, training programs, and opportunities for participation in development projects. The collaboration also aims to preserve and promote literary heritage.

Prof. Dr. Saleem Mazhar proposed an academic and literary session chaired by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmed, President of IIUI, at the NLPD to focus on Arabic and Urdu literature. Both parties discussed the translation and publication of significant literary works and future initiatives for strengthening Urdu teaching.
