IIUI and Huawei Collaborate on Seminars Focusing on Safety and Wireless Innovation

Islamabad: The International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), alongside technology giant Huawei, hosted two pivotal seminars under the IIUI-Huawei Hardware Installation Camp (HIC) aimed at broadening students’ understanding of workplace safety and technological advancements in communication.

The first seminar, entitled “Building a Culture of Safety: From Awareness to Action”, was geared towards students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) program. Led by Mr. M. Mohsin Rafi, an experienced QEHS professional, the seminar highlighted the significance of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards. Mr. Rafi, drawing on his extensive industry experience, including work on Huawei projects, underscored the necessity of safety protocols and shared best practices for fostering a secure working environment.

In the second seminar, “Wireless Frontiers: Innovations Transforming Communication”, both industry insiders and academic experts convened to discuss the latest developments in wireless technology. Mr. Hammad Bin Masood from Huawei and Dr. Athar Waseem of IIUI explored the evolution of wireless systems from 2G to 4G and considered the future trajectory of these technologies.

Students were actively engaged in both seminars, gaining practical insights beyond their regular coursework. Dr. Muhammad Amir, the Dean of Faculty of Engineering and Technology and Director of the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), lauded Huawei’s support for academic-industry collaboration. He presented shields to the guest speakers and emphasized the HIC facility’s role as a platform for skill development, while also mentioning plans for future training programs.

The seminars are part of IIUI’s continued efforts to equip students with the necessary skills to tackle emerging challenges in engineering and technology sectors.
