Karachi: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) has achieved a significant milestone by signing a Recognition Agreement with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), a leading global professional accountancy body. This agreement, finalized on December 18, 2025, elevates ICAP’s status on the international stage and confirms the high standards of its educational and professional training programs.
The agreement allows qualified ICAP members, who have trained under the syllabus introduced in 2021, to apply for ICAEW membership. This pathway requires the completion of only one additional examination—the ICAEW Strategic Case Study—and the ICAEW Ethics Learning Programme, or an equivalent recognized course.
ICAEW will grant credit for all Certificate and Professional Level papers, alongside two Advanced Level papers. Additionally, ICAEW will acknowledge the practical training and professional development that ICAP members have undertaken.
This development not only marks an institutional achievement for ICAP but also significantly broadens the global career opportunities for its members and students. It ensures that the ICAP qualification is recognized at par with the world’s leading accountancy credentials, enhancing professional mobility and recognition internationally.
