Karachi: In a spirited display of athletic prowess and sportsmanship, the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi hosted the All-Pakistan Inter-Varsity Archery Championship. The event, held at IBA’s Main Campus, featured participation from nine universities nationwide. After three days of intense competition, the University of the Punjab secured the gold medal, while IBA Karachi claimed silver and the University of Lahore took home the bronze.
The championship was attended by Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), who served as the chief guest. Dr. Mohammad Asad Ilyas, Registrar of IBA Karachi, welcomed attendees and reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to fostering a robust sports culture on campus.
Key figures from the HEC, including Mr. Javed Ali Memon, Director of Sports; Mr. Nazir Ahmed, Regional Head; and Mr. Ahmad Ali Rajpoot, Secretary General of the Sindh Olympic Association, were also present, along with team managers from the participating universities.
Dr. Ahmad commended IBA Karachi for organizing the event and highlighted HEC’s role in supporting the development of professional athletes within academic institutions. He encouraged universities to provide more opportunities for students to engage in physical activities.
The championship underscored IBA’s dedication to promoting athletic growth and providing emerging talent with a platform to thrive, while also showcasing the unified effort of universities in advancing archery as an emerging sport in Pakistan.
