Karachi: Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi’s 21-day “Awami Theatre Festival” entered its fourth day, showcasing the Urdu drama “Heer Raanjha Ki Chaar Kahaniyan” at AC Auditorium II. Written by Waseem Aziz and directed by Wajih Warsi, the play featured a talented cast including Farhan Awan, Sapna Ghazal, Shameer Rahi, Izhar Bacha, Wahaj Wajih, Hooriya Qureshi, Abdullah Hamair, Qurrat-ul-Ain, Abeeha Shahzed, Shabana Saher, Abdullah Saleem, Taib Jalal, and Shahzad Jee. The drama is based on Heer’s journey in search of love, which leads her to a modern “Ranjha.” Their love story unfolds as they marry, only to face a series of small but challenging post-marriage issues.
According to Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, the play highlights various struggles and challenges that today’s women encounter. The narrative masterfully blends humor with serious undertones, making the story both touching and engaging. “Heer Raanjha Ki Chaar Kahaniyan” is not just a romantic tale; it reflects women’s lives, their struggles, loves, and societal challenges in an entertaining and thought-provoking manner. The performance saw a large turnout, and the actors received much applause and appreciation for their outstanding performances.
