HEC Panel Evaluates NED University to Bolster Higher Education Standards

Karachi: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) successfully conducted a rigorous Review of Institutional Performance and Enhancement (RIPE) at NED University of Engineering and Technology. From January 6 to 8, 2026, a panel led by Prof. Dr. Fazal Ahmad Khalid, Rector of Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (GIKI), undertook a thorough evaluation aimed at strengthening Pakistan's higher education sector.

The RIPE initiative is a component of HEC's national quality assurance framework. It focuses on enhancing governance, academic standards, and institutional performance across the country's higher education institutions. The panel, composed of esteemed academic leaders from various major universities, concentrated on a range of crucial areas at NED University.

During the review, the panel scrutinized NED University's academic processes, governance structures, quality assurance mechanisms, student services, and physical infrastructure. The evaluation sought to identify strengths and areas for improvement to ensure continued institutional excellence and quality assurance.

The visit concluded with an exit meeting where preliminary observations were shared with the university's management. The panel expressed commendation for NED University's robust academic and administrative practices, which demonstrate a strong commitment to institutional excellence and ongoing development.

HEC recognized the efforts of NED University's Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) and expressed appreciation for the leadership of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Wasif, who facilitated effective coordination throughout the RIPE process. The outcome of this review is expected to contribute significantly to the enhancement of higher education standards in Pakistan.
