Gujranwala’s Voter Registration Rate Surpasses National Average

Gujranwala: Voter registration in the Gujranwala district has reached 58% of its projected 2025 population, surpassing the national average of 54%, as reported in a recent electoral roll analysis.

According to Free and Fair Election Network, the statistics were compiled using data from the Election Commission of Pakistan, released on December 30, 2025, and population estimates from the 2023 Digital Census. Gujranwala's estimated population for 2025, accounting for a 2.94% annual growth rate, stands at 6,315,335. The district boasts 3.6 million registered voters, with males comprising 53.8% and females 46.2% of the electorate.

Gujranwala ranks fourth in Pakistan by population size and is represented by six Members of the National Assembly. However, in terms of voter registration rate, it stands 33rd nationally and 21st among Punjab's 36 districts. Two factors from the 2023 Digital Census contribute to the district's higher registration rate: enumeration of individuals at their current residence rather than their home address, and the migration of many residents to urban centers like Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Faisalabad for employment.

Despite a strong registration rate, a moderate gender gap persists, with females constituting 46.2% of registered voters. Continued efforts to enhance female voter registration are deemed necessary to ensure equitable participation.
