Generative AI Workshop Equips University Staff with New Skills

Lahore: The Learning Innovation Centre at the University of Central Punjab recently hosted a workshop titled "GenAI Training for University Staff to Enable Efficient Workflows," aimed at equipping non-academic staff with the skills to harness generative AI tools. The session was conducted by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akhyar Farrukh, Director of ORIC and Research.

The workshop provided a detailed introduction to generative AI, highlighting its potential uses and the ethical considerations necessary for its application in educational and professional environments. Participants were guided on the responsible use of AI, addressing issues such as academic dishonesty and over-dependence on technology.

Key topics included practical strategies for utilizing AI tools effectively in writing, teaching, grammar checking, paraphrasing, note-making, and question development. The session also tackled concerns around AI detection, emphasizing the importance of designing effective prompts and using templates to boost efficiency across various university operations.

The workshop concluded with a focus on ethical frameworks, ensuring that staff are well-prepared to integrate generative AI into their workflows responsibly.
