GCU Faculty Shine Among World’s Top Scientists

Islamabad: Several Government College University (GCU) Lahore faculty members have earned places among the top two percent of scientists globally, according to the latest Stanford University–Elsevier citation database.

The 2025 list features prominent GCU academics including Prof Dr Ikram Ul Haq (SI), Distinguished National Professor at the Institute of Industrial Biotechnology; Dr Imran Hanif from the Department of Economics; Dr Iram Liaqat and Dr Saukat Ali from the Department of Zoology; Dr Ghulam Murtaza from the Centre for Advanced Studies in Physics (CASP); Dr Muhammad Noor from the Abdus Salam School of Mathematical Sciences; and Dr Muhammad Ikram from the Department of Physics.

Younger scholars Dr Muhammad Awais Umar, formerly of the Abdus Salam School of Mathematical Sciences, and Dr Hafiz Hamid Raza, previously with CASP, also achieved recognition.

For career-long achievement, GCU’s Prof Dr Ikram Ul Haq, Dr Abdul Sattar Nizami from the Sustainable Development Study Centre, and the late Prof Dr Muhammad Zakaullah (CASP) and Prof Dr Muhammad Zakariya Butt (Physics) were acknowledged for their continuing worldwide influence.

GCU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Omer Chaudhry commended the faculty and researchers, stating this honor brings prestige to both GCU and Pakistan.
