Muzaffarabad: Former Prime Minister and senior leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, accompanied by President PPP AJK Chaudhry Yasin and Chaudhary Akhlaq, addressed the media in Muzaffarabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, alleging widespread rigging and irregularities in the recent elections.

According to Pakistan Peoples Party, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf stated that the elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir were controversial, presenting videos as evidence of alleged manipulation. He emphasized that polling hours were extended in certain areas but not in Chaudhry Pervaiz Ashraf's constituency, urging the Chief Election Commissioner to address this inconsistency.

Raja Pervaiz Ashraf reported instances where groups of people reportedly occupied polling stations, assaulted voters, and manipulated ballot papers. He claimed that Presiding Officers were coerced into altering election results. Additionally, he recounted incidents of violence, including the killing of a person before the elections and injuries to party workers on polling day, criticizing the inaction of police and civil authorities.

He argued that the situation mocked transparency and demanded a forensic audit of disputed polling stations. Highlighting that the PPP initially secured 10 seats, he accused the manipulation of results through undemocratic methods and declared that the PML-N was rejected by the people of Kashmir.

Raja Pervaiz Ashraf reiterated PPP's support for its workers and voters, stating that the party's leadership would decide on future actions. He urged the Chief Election Commissioner to take action on submitted complaints and suspend results in contentious constituencies, advocating for re-polling. He warned that institutional involvement in such practices would erode public trust and harm the populace.
