Islamabad: A fire erupted on Tuesday near the boundary of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), situated between sectors H-10 and H-11, close to the Katchi Abadi area. The blaze was swiftly contained through a coordinated response from IIUI’s horticulture and security teams, alongside timely assistance from the Capital Development Authority (CDA) fire brigade, ensuring no harm to university property or individuals.
The fire, which occurred at a significant distance from the academic and administrative blocks, was initially managed by the IIUI horticulture staff, who were recently trained in firefighting techniques. They, in collaboration with the security section, began the firefighting efforts using water bowsers before the arrival of the CDA fire tenders.
The university administration, under the guidance of its President and Vice President, played a crucial role in preventing a major incident. The leadership expressed appreciation for the immediate and effective response of the teams involved.
Notable commendation was given to the security section, led by the Chief Security Officer and Assistant Security Officer, and the horticulture section under the supervision of Mr. Altaf Burqi and Ms. Zara Shah. Superintendent Planning and Development Ch. Asif and Mr. Zawar Abbasi from the security section were also recognized for their active participation in managing the emergency. The operation was closely overseen by Dr. Inam ul Haq, Director Administration, whose coordination was vital for an organized response.
The administration also acknowledged the timely support from Mr. Zafar, Director Fire, CDA, and his team.
